The Other Side of Pornography – Discover What’s Good About Porn

I’ve been hearing in the news a lot lately about all the bad things about pornography, so I thought I’d write a bit about what I think that people are overlooking.

I’d like to talk to you about the benefits of pornography, from a social and economic stand point.

Now, before I begin, I want to stress that I’m writing this from a purely professional stand point. I am NOT advocating pornography, I am NOT discussing the moral implications of pornography, I am NOT trying to tell everyone to start supporting pornography…

What I AM doing is trying to create a counter argument to the shadow cast on pornography in recent years, not necessarily because I believe it, but because I feel there are things that need to be said. In addition,

Again, I’d like to stress that I am NOT supporting pornography. To everything I say here there is a counter argument (another topic for another time), and you should keep that in mind. This is a purely educational article, designed to get you thinking.

So, without further ado, let’s talk about what’s GOOD about pornography.

Firstly, sexual education. More and more parents are pushing sexual education off on schools, simply because they’re uncomfortable dealing with it. As a result, more and more generations of kids are going through their pubescent years with an ignorance of sex, which in turn creates adults who are both sexually inept, and sexually unhealthy.

Pornography gives those adults a means of education, and satisfies the pubescent curiosity that goes completely unanswered throughout their teenage years because of their parents unwillingness to address sexuality, and the schools’ inability to adequately inform kids about the birds and the bees.

Second, economic stimulus. Now, I know that the porn industry is NOT the biggest industry in the world, but there are thousands of videos out there. There is a market for pornography, and that market isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, so why not profit from it? It provides jobs for men and women who may otherwise be unemployed. In the current economy every single job counts, and I can promise you that just about every model, though it may not be their ideal job, does appreciate the income.

Third, it’s legal. Remember how I just got done saying how models appreciate the income? Well, not only do they appreciate the income, but they appreciate that it’s legal. These are people who typically don’t know much else, and so they turn to something that they ARE good at, or that they think they can be good at, and try and make money from it. Now, I’m sure that you can think of a similar profession to pornographic modeling?

If you can’t, I’m referring to prostitution. Now, I’m not in any way saying that every single pornographic model would be a prostitute if they didn’t do porn, but I can guarantee you that at least a small percentage would be. In that way, porn is really helping those women out, by providing a safe, and much more reliable, profession.

Which brings me to my last point…

Pornography is safe for the models. There are very strict regulations about porn, and STDs are stopped before they begin. I’m not saying there aren’t exceptions, people always find ways around the rules, but what I am saying is that pornography is no more dangerous than, say, construction, or some other manual labor profession. This is certainly a benefit…porn is only becoming safer, which is a good thing for the models.

I hope that I’ve opened your eyes up to some of the unspoken benefits of pornography. Once again, I am not in any way supporting pornography, I am not saying people should look at it, I am not saying it’s a good influence…I AM saying that there are benefits that people are choosing to ignore, and so I’m doing my best to bring them to light.
